Improvements Underway for Styluses on iPad Air 2

By Adonit

We’ve been hearing a lot of reports of frustration with the functionality of our Jot Touch with Pixelpoint and Jot Script styluses on the iPad Air 2. We share your frustration.

The iPad Air 2 was released with a brand new screen technology. Developers weren’t aware of the effects of this hardware change until the iPad Air 2 was released to the world. The change has caused some interference with both fingers and styluses interacting with the screen. Unfortunately, this especially affects active (Bluetooth-connected) styluses. The entire stylus industry is working hard to correct the issue.

When we received our iPad Air 2, our development team got to work to find a solution. Within a week they engineered a software specific fix for these issues and released an update to our software developer’s kit (SDK) on November 7.

This is still an ongoing process and it takes time. Each app needs to be updated individually and resubmitted to Apple for approval and release. We work closely with our app partners to streamline this process whenever possible, but it can take a couple weeks in most cases for our SDK fixes to be applied the apps you are using every day.

We know this is frustrating. It’s frustrating to us, too. But, please know that we’re working ‘round the clock to help our community of apps work through these iPad Air 2 issues. We’re confident things will be better soon.

Sincerely, Adonit Team
